our food

A warm welcome, excellent food & a deep connection with Somerset’s rich culinary heritage

Co-founder and Chef Alasdair Clifford brings over a decade of Michelin-starred experience from Chez Bruce and The Glasshouse to The Barrington Boar kitchen.

His local roots drive our commitment to provenance, sourcing almost exclusively from farmers, foragers, brewers, and cheesemongers within just a few miles.

This dedication has earned us spots in the Top 50 Gastropubs (#35), the MICHELIN Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2026, Harden’s Guide, Trencherman’s Guide, and as #12 in The Good Food Guides’ Top 100 pubs. Our menu celebrates seasonal South West produce, matched with a cellar stocked with local ales, ciders, craft beers, gins, and English sparkling wines.

Our Lunch & Evening a la carte menus evolve with the seasons & are available during the week (Wed - Sat)

We also offer Sunday Roasts which were recommended by The Times as one of their Best 30 places for a pub lunch in the UK & one of Britain’s best places for a Sunday Roast.

Children’s Food At The Barrington Boar

Our Children’s Menu is served at lunchtime from Wednesday to Sunday.

In the evenings, we welcome guests aged 8 and up with our Junior Menu for Over-8s and Under-16s. Featuring simplified versions of our à la carte dishes, it allows younger diners to enjoy great food and company in a mature setting alongside family and friends.

The sample below illustrates the style of food on offer, though selections may vary daily.

the market garden

Adjacent to the pub, we have created a Market Garden, transforming some overgrown farmland into a vibrant hub for biodiversity and community.

Designed by Owen & Crosby and landscaped by Double-Barrows, it supplies Chef Alasdair’s kitchen with home-grown fruit, vegetables, and herbs while preserving heritage varieties through our Slow Food UK Allotment and orchard.

Beyond feeding our tables, the garden serves as a sanctuary for wildlife and a welcoming space for horticultural groups, schools, and local residents to connect with nature and each other.

the barrington Bakery

Born from a lockdown dream and housed in a restored cider barn next door to the pub, The Barrington Bakery brings exceptional bread to the local community. Open Thursday to Saturday, we bake using regenerative flour from Wild Farmed Flours and locally sourced ingredients. From our signature sourdough loaves to flaky croissants and seasonal pastries, every item is crafted with care for both taste and the planet. Pre-orders are welcome for collection at Two Bakers Farm, just through the big green gates beside The Barrington Boar.

Open Thursday to Saturday 8.30am - 2pm.
